ABOUT
Following the success of our three month full time School of the Word, we are excited to announce, we will be launching the School of the Word as a PART TIME option at The Revival Academy in the fall of 2024. open to ALL AGES (18-80).
Like never before, it is essential that God’s people return to the Bible. It is the foundation of our faith and practice. The apostle Paul told Timothy, that ALL SCRIPTURE is useful and necessary to equip God’s people to walk in God’s ways. The early church was DEVOTED to the apostles teaching, but how many of us have ever even read the Bible cover to cover.
The truth is, that reading the Bible can be difficult and at times confusing without some help! It is not just one book, but 66 individual books.; all of them inspired by the Holy Spirit, yet written by different authors and addressed to a wide variety of audiences in different cultures over a period of several thousand years, and in a period of history far away from our own.
This is exactly why we designed this course. Over thirty weeks, you will have the opportunity to read through the whole Bible, accompanied by weekly classes that will give you a cultural, historical and contextual overview of the books you are reading. The goal is to help you understand the main messages of each book of the Bible in such a way that you will understand how to apply them to your life today, and to equip you for a lifetime of enjoyable and meaningful Bible reading and study.
PART TIME PARTICIPATION
The school will consist of a thirty week Bible reading plan and thirty weekly classes divided into two fifteen week semesters (Fall and Spring), in which we will cover the content and purpose of every book of the Bible in overview. Classes will be a combination of lecture and classroom discussion, and be offered live in person and online (over Zoom) on Tuesday evenings at 7pm.

What is the format of this course?
This course is a combination of classroom teaching (live or virtual/online) and personal Bible reading.
Lessons will take place live weekly from 7-9pm ET (USA) and will be broadcast live. Recordings of each class will be available online for those unable to participate live
What is the schedule?
Live classes will be held on Tuesday evenings at the campus of the Open Door Community in Fort Pierce, Florida at 7pm ET on the following dates:
FALL SEMESTER 2024: September 10, 17, 24 - October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 - November 5, 12, 19, 26 - December 3, 10, 17
SPRING SEMESTER 2025: January 14, 21, 28 - February 4, 11, 18, 25 - March 4, 11, 18, 25 - April 1, 8, 15, 22
I live overseas/cannot participate live - can I still take part?
Absolutely! We are so excited to be able to welcome students from overseas as well as those for whom live attendance is impossible. This is why we are offering this course in a ‘hybrid classroom’ environment.
You will have the opportunity to participate in live classes in presence or online, but if that doesn’t work for you because of work or family commitments (or you live in another time zone), every class recording and hand out will be archived on our private website for you to access at any time after the live class has taken place.

What will my commitment be?
This is an enrichment course and there is no required commitment for either attendance or homework. Your commitment and involvement is as much or as little as you want it to be. However, for the greatest benefit, we recommend at least participating in and completing the Bible reading plan that accompanies the course.
I am not a fast reader – is this course for me?
Even for an average reader, the Bible reading plan should be possible. Reading a little over 20 minutes per day over thirty weeks, should be sufficient for most readers to be able to complete one reading of the entire Bible.
For those who struggle or have reading disabilities, we recommend using one of the many audio Bibles that are now available.
What technology do I need for the online school?
For those participating online, you will simply need access to a computer or mobile device. The classes will be stored directly on a password protected area of our website for access by students. For those who wish to participate online in our live sessions, you will need the latest edition of Zoom if you want to be part of question and answer/discussion sessions.
Help! I want to take the course but I just can’t afford it
We believe in making our schools as affordable as possible for those who want to participate. You will receive over 60 hours of expert instruction during this course, in addition to extensive written handouts and instructor access. We want the course to be affordable for all, and thus it is offered at what we believe is excellent value for money.
In addition (for those living in the United States), our payment provider, PayPal, does offer the option for you to pay the course fees in interest free installments over six months.
A primary goal of our schools is to see women and men effectively trained in the Word of God. We believe that those who invest financially in their education at some level, tend to take it more seriously and invest in a greater way with their time and energy.
We do understand, however, that for some, the cost of the school may be prohibitive, and we never want lack of finances to be a reason for students not to participate.
